All families are expected to participate in some way to support one another. NEPHS is a support group for Christian home schooling families. We are not a service organization. We are a group of families committed to helping each other raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
It is expected that all NEPHS members belong to a church that is their main place of worship. NEPHS is not a church, or a a parachurch organization. While we desire that all our meetings would glorify God, we do not hold church services.
In these pursuits, we recognize God's sovereignty and His immeasurable grace in that He provided salvation for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.
The purposes of NEPHS are:
Encouragement and support for those actively engaged in home education.
Educational opportunities for those interested in Christian home education.
Wholesome field trips and activities conducted in a Christian setting.
Contact persons within NEPHS and the community to promote the cause of home education.
Statement of Faith

The Bible alone is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes completed and final revelation. The Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole or in part, including theological concepts as well as geographical and historical details.

God alone is self-existent and has existed from all eternity in three eternal and coequal persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God who came in human flesh being fully God and fully man except without sin.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth," and everything that God created was good. Yet his perfect creation was marred by sin. Through Adam's sin, death and decay entered into this world.

All men are in violation of God's righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and by act, and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation. Yet because of God's infinite love and mercy He sent His Son to bear the penalty of our sin. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to atone for sin through His substitutionary death on the cross - the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible bodily resurrection.

Salvation is offered as a gift free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter and Counselor, promised by Jesus, who came upon the church at Pentecost and indwells every believer. The Holy Spirit is more than just a transforming force in the life of the believer. He is a person, coequal with the Father and the Son, who motivates and enables individual Christians to live as we ought.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We are saved by grace apart from any works of righteousness, yet our lives are to be transformed by God's indwelling Spirit and reflect His presence. It is not the role of anyone in NEPHS to be an inspector or an inquisitor. We are all servants of the same Lord and are accountable to Him for our actions, words, attitudes and thoughts. On this basis, we hold the following standards:
Standards of Behavior

Edifying Speech: We seek to encourage one another through our words. Gossip and bad attitudes are always out of place. Harsh, critical words are to be avoided. Profanity will not be tolerated.

Modest attire: Clothing worn at NEPHS events should reflect our Christian values. We do not measure hemlines, yet we strive to maintain a manner of dress that is not a stumbling block to others. Clothing should not be revealing, neither too brief, nor too tight.

Respectful children: We expect children to be courteous, to honor and obey their parents, to respect other adults, and to show deference to the needs of others. We seek to maintain a positive witness for our Lord Jesus Christ and for home education through the quiet witness of well-behaved children.

Discipline of children: The primary responsibility for disciplining a child rests with that child's parents. We recognize that correction is proper and Biblical. We also reject child abuse in any form. If a child's parents are not available at a NEPHS function, other adults present must be responsible to lovingly encourage the child in proper behavior.

Modeling proper behavior: Our behavior as parents should follow the Biblical standard.
